Dr. Becker

Dr. Karen Becker was raised in Northeastern, PA, and began her career working with animals as a veterinary technician at the age of 16. She continued in this field throughout college. In 1997, she graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor's of Science Degree from Temple University. She continued graduate courses in genetics before heading to veterinary school. In 2003, she was awarded her Veterinariae Medicinae Doctoris from the University of Pennsylvania, School of Veterinary Medicine, where she developed a strong interest in animal behavior.

In June 2008, she started working at Princeton Animal Hospital. Her professional interests lie in animal behavior, ophthalmology, dentistry, and internal medicine. While she enjoys caring for all pets, there is a special place in her heart for our senior patients! She is a member of the American Animal Hospital Association, and the American Veterinary Medical Association.

She appreciates the human-animal bond as a powerful interaction, and enjoys helping foster this relationship. She feels strongly that most animal behavioral problems can be prevented through proper education and training of pet owners. Unfortunately, many animals are surrendered or euthanized every year due to behavioral issues that could have been avoided. She is happy to provide behavioral consults to owners in hopes of helping them to better deal with the issues at hand, and in the most effect time frame, and ultimately foster the natural human-animal bond.

Dr. Becker shares her home with Barkley, a English Setter (and a lap dog); Clancey, a lap cat, and JP, a very sweet mouse. Dr. Becker and her husband, Dan, are the proud parents of two daughters, Julia and Ellie. Whenever possible, the family spends their time outdoors. She also enjoys playing piano, writing, biking, running and gardening.
